About Our Logo

The logo of Lutherans Concerned combines two symbols.

The symbol of the fish, or ichthus, originated as a secret sign of recognition when Christians in the Roman Empire were persecuted because of their faith.  The Greek language acronym for "Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior," spells out ichthus, meaning "fish."

The pink triangle was used by the Nazis to identify European homosexuals who were persecuted or put to death in the concentration camps of the Third Reich.

These two symbols representing Christian faith and courageous resistance against sexual discrimination are combined in our logo to remind us that human sexuality and faith can be reconciled into one.
